Campfire Cooking

Nothing beats the taste of cooking your favorite campfire recipes. I find it very relaxing to sit with family and friends at our campfire cooking delicious meals & sipping on a cold beverage. The special flavors absorbed into your food from the coals of the fire seem to give the meal a very special taste which makes meal time a very enjoyable experience. Some methods of cooking on the campfire are on a grill, in a pie iron, buried in the coals, on a stick and in a pot.  Check out these great campfire cooking tips and recipes!

For the best results when cooking on a campfire:

  • Do not cook directly over flames.
  • An even bed of coals help to distribute the heat evenly.
  • Do not use pretreated or painted wood as chemicals can be absorbed into your food.
  • Check food regularly as food will cook quickly over a hot bed of coals.
  • Butter outer edge of bread inside pie iron so that it doesn’t stick.

Cooking on the Campfire Grill

The meat lovers will love to cook their favorite meats on the campfire grill. Try cooking your steak and chicken breast on the campfire grill. Try brushing BBQ or steak sauce onto your meat. I love marinating my steak for a few hours prior to cooking it on the grill.

Steak Marinade

Put an unfrozen steak into a Ziploc bag. Pour Italian dressing into bag for an hour or so flipping bag to make sure all of the steak absorbs the dressing. Try adding a small amount of beer into the bag for a great taste.
