Shrimp Appetizers
 
 
Shrimp appetizers are always a big hit at our house. Shrimp appetizers really taste great and they are a healthier choice than many other appetizer choices. I love to cook and serve tasty seafood and shellfish dishes when I am entertaining guests. Try these featured shrimp appetizer recipes!
 
 
 

Greek Broiled Shrimp Appetizer

 
- 1-1/2 lbs uncooked thawed peeled de-veined shrimp - 1 cup tomato sauce
- ¼ cup apple juice or dry white wine                                        - 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1-1/2 teaspoons freshly chopped oregano leaves                    - ¼ cup crumbled feta cheese
 
·        Grease the bottom of rectangular pan (13 x 9 x 2 inches) with shortening.
·        Mix all ingredients except cheese. Arrange mixture in the pan with shrimp in a single layer. Sprinkle the cheese over the mixture.
·        Broil for about 5 minutes are until the shrimp turns pink and is firm.

Dunking Shrimp Appetizer

 
- 1 can of beer + ½ cup water                          - 1 sliced small onion
- 1 sliced stalk of celery                                    - 1 tablespoon of salt
- 3 peppercorns                                                - 1 bay leaf
- 1 garlic clove                                      - 1 lb very large shelled uncooked shrimp
 
·        In a large saucepan combine all of the ingredients except for the shrimp. Cover and heat to boiling. Boil for 10 minutes.
·        Add shrimp. Cover and boil for five more minutes or until shrimp has turned pink. Remove from heat and cool in cooling liquid.
·        Serve cold with dunking bowls of cold beer.

Pickled Shrimp Appetizer

 
- 1 can of beer                                                                          - ¼ cup oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice                                                        - 1 teaspoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon each – dill seed, dry mustard, celery salt   - 1 teaspoon salt                      
- ¼ teaspoon tarragon                                                              - 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 2 halved bay leaves                                                                - 2 chopped medium onions
- 1 small to medium package (10 ounces) frozen cooked shrimp thawed
 
·          In a sauce pan place all of the ingredients except the shrimp. Simmer 10 – 15 minutes or until the onions are just become tender.
·          Add the shrimp and remove from heat. Place all of the ingredients into a casserole dish, cover and refrigerate for 1 day.
·          Just before serving, remove the bay leaves, drain off the marinade and then can spoon shrimp and onions onto crackers.
 
Serves approximately 25 shrimp appetizers
