Fish Curry with Coconut Milk and Mango

This is a very tasty and easy to prepare recipe of fish curry.Here i used black pomfret fish. Pomfret fish is very tasty. I added raw mango in this coconut based gravy.Mango flavor gives more taste for the curry..For tampering i added turmeric powder,chilly powder and coriander powder with shallots.It is the main difference of this curry from any other fish curry recipes.You can also try this recipe.Now let us come to the recipe

Ingredients


Onion-1 Sliced into thin pieces
Green Chilies-3
Black pomfret fish-1 kg cut into medium sized pieces
Raw Mango-1 cut into medium sized pieces
Ginger-1 inch crushed
Red chilli Powder-11/2 tbs
Coriander Powder-1 tbs
Turmeric Powder-1 tsp
Thick Coconut milk-3/4 cup
Thin Coconut milk-2 cup
Salt to taste

For tempering

Small Onions- Sliced into small pieces
Curry leaves
Coriander Powder-1/2 tbs
Red chili Powder-1/2 tbs
Turmeric Powder-1/4 tbs

Method Of Preparation

  • Heat Oil in a Pan 
  • Add curry leaves into it
  • After that add sliced Onion,green chilies and crushed ginger into it
  • Add salt in it and saute for few minutes till the onion turns brown in color
  • Add turmeric powder and saute until the raw smell goes
  •  Add coriander powder in it and saute for few minutes
  • Add the redchili powder ,reduce the flame after adding red chili powder and saute well
  • Add Thin Coconut milk in it
  • Add fish pieces in to it and increase the flame
  • Add salt in to it according to your taste
  • Close the lid and allow the fish pieces to be cooked in the coconut milk
  • Once the fish pieces are half cooked add mango pieces in to it.Mango should be very sour in taste,If it is not sour you can add kodum pulli or tamarind in it and adjust the taste
  • Now close the lid and cook the fish pieces along with mango to get the taste of mango for fish pieces
  • Once the fish pieces and mango pieces are cooked well add thick coconut milk in to it
  • Then cook it for few minutes.Once it is cooked well switch off the flame
  • Next do the tampering. For that heat oil another pan then add curry leaves and small onion in to it
  • Once the onion turns brown in color add turmeric powder,coriander powder and red chili powder in to it and saute it for few minutes
  • Add this tampering mixture into the fish curry
  • Now the curry is ready to serve
