Jackfruit is one of the seasonal fruits in kerala.We can prepare many dishes with this jack fruit but my all time favorite is  chakka ada.You can store Jack fruit as chakka varattiyathu and you can prepare this chakka ada at any time.You can have it as a snack.Try this recipe,i am sure that you will love this recipe.Let us see how to prepare this


Preparation Time:30 minutes
Cooking Time:15 minutes
Servings:5-6 Adas

Ingredients

Jackfruit ripen-1 cup
Rice flour-1 cup
Jaggery-1 cup
Cardamon Powder-1/4 tsp
Grated Coconut-1/2 cup
Ghee-1tbs
Banana leaf

Method Of Preparation
  • Melt Jaggery in 1/2 cup water
  • In a pan cook the jackfruit with melted jaggery

  • Add ghee in it and mix well
  • Allow it to cool down and blend it into a smooth paste

  • In,a mixing bowl take rice flour and add salt into it and mixwell
  • Add jackfruit paste into it and mixwell
  • Add cardamon powder and grated coconut into it and make it into a dough(Little looser than chapati dough) with hot water

  • Clean the banana leaf with water 
  • Brush them with little ghee
  • Spread the dough on to the leaves as thin as possible

  • Fold the banana leaf and press it gently with hands
  • Steam it for 15 minutes
  • Chakka ada is ready to serve as an evening snack
