Here comes another variety of fish curry that is Chettinad Fish Curry. You can use any type of fish for preparing this.The flavor of this curry is entirely different from other fish curries. Once you got a chance to taste this chettinad fish curry I am sure that you will definitely try to prepare this curry at your home. It goes well with rice.Today we can learn how to prepare this tasty chettinad fish curry.It is very easy to prepare. Try it and let me know how it turned out for you


Ingredients

Fish-1/2 kg,
Shallots / Small onions-1 1/2 cup
Garlic Cloves-10
Finely chopped tomatoes-1 1/2 cup
Tamarind- Lemon size
Green Chilies-3
Turmeric Powder-1/2 tsp
Red Chili Powder-3 tsp
Coriander Powder-6 tsp
Mustard seeds-2 tsp
Cumin seeds / Jeera-2 tsp
Fenugreek seeds-1 tsp
Pepper,crushed-3 tsp
Curry leaves-1 hand full
Oil-2 tbs


Method Of Preparation

  • Clean and cut the fish in to medium size pieces
  • Soak tamarind in 3 cup of water for 10 minutes
  • After 10 minutes squeeze it and filter it and make the tamarind juice and keep it aside
  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds
  • Now add cumin seeds/Jeera, fenugreek seeds and then add crushed pepper
  • Then add one hand full of curry leaves
  • Saute it for few minutes
  • Then add garlic cloves and small onions in it and saute it for few minutes till onions becomes light brown in color
  • Now add finely chopped tomatoes and cook it for few minutes in low flame
  • After 5 minutes add tamarind juice and allow it to boil 
  • Now add green chilies,turmeric powder, redchili powder and coriander powder and mix well
  • Cook it for 5 minutes,once gravy thickens add the fish pieces in it,then add salt in it and mix well
  • Cook it in low flame for 10 minutes
  • Finally sprinkle  little oil on top 
  • Switch off the flame and keep it closed for 1 hour 
  • Now tasty chettinad fish curry is ready to serve with rice
