Dal curry is common in all parts of India. Only difference will be there in the way of preparation of this curry . You can prepare plain dal curry or you can add any vegetables of your choice with dal. You may tried different type of dal curries but this okra dal curry taste will be different from the normal dal curry you usually prepares. It goes well with plain rice or chappathi. Ingredients

Toor dal-1/4 cup
Okra,chopped in to small size pieces-1/4 kg
Onion-1
Green chilies-4
Tomato,chopped-2
Red chili powder-2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
Grated coconut-1 1/2 cup
Small onions,chopped-2 tsp
Curry leaves-few
Oil-1/4 cup
Salt to taste


Method Of Preparation
  • Grind the coconut into a smooth paste by adding coriander powder in it and keep it aside
  • Cook the dal by adding onion, green chilies, tomato, curry leaves, salt and 2 tsp oil in it
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped onions in it and saute it well. When the onions turns golden brown in color add the okra pieces in it and saute it well until the okra pieces are cooked well
  • Once the okra pieces are cooked well add the turmeric powder and redchili powder in it and mix well. Saute it for few minutes
  • Add the grounded coconut paste in it and then add some water in it and cook it for 5 minutes
  • Add the cooked dal in it and mix well. Cook it for another 5 minutes
  • Dal curry is ready to serve hot with rice or chappathi
