Today’s recipe is for prawn lovers. If you love prawns, then you will definitely love this recipe. You can prepare this chutney powder in very less time with very few ingredients. ln this recipe I am using dried prawns. Dried prawns is nothing but prawns that is sundried and shrunk to thumb size. This chutney powder is a best option if nothing is available at your home, to cook as side dish. It tastes heavenly with rice. Once you made this powder, you can store this powder in an air tight container and can use it for about 2 months. You can find dried prawns in any asian store. Ingredients

Cleaned dried prawn- 1 cup
Grated Coconut-1 cup
Small onions-5nos, sliced
Ginger-1 piece
Garlic-3 cloves
Tamarind-small ball size
Dry red chilies-8 to 10
Curry leaves-2 spring
Salt-a pinch


Method Of Preparation

  • Remove head and tail of the dried prawns, Wash properly and pat dry.There is no need to wash them if they are already cleaned
  • Dry roast the prawns in medium flame until it becomes crispy
  • Transfer it into a plate and allow it to cool down
  • In the same pan add grated coconut, small onions, ginger, garlic, dried redchillies, tamarind, curry leaves and salt
  • Saute it well until coconut turns brown in color
  • Then transfer it into a plate and allow it to cool down
  • Once it is cooled down, transfer it into a blender
  • Then add roasted dried prawns into it
  • Blend everything well
  • Tasty Dried prawn chutney/Unakka chemmeen chammanthi is now ready
  • Store it in an air tight container
