Now it is the season of jackfruit, so I thought to try out the recipes of jackfruit. I have already posted the recipes of ripe jackfruit in this blog. U can refer it here Jackfruit cake, Jackfruit kheer, Jackfruit Sweet Paniyaram/Jackfruit Unniappam. U can make many dishes with tender jackfruit also. We used to prepare idichakka thoran and curry with Idichakka/ Tender Jackfruit. This time I thought to prepare a variety dish with tender jackfruit that is Tender Jackfruit Cutlet/Idichakka Cutlet. It came out well for me, so I thought to share with you the recipe. It tastes so delicious. so whenever u have tender jackfruit with you, don’t forget to try this recipe. Let us come to the recipe

Ingredients

Tender Jackfruit/Idichakka- 1 medium size (1/2 portion of it)
Potato-1 large
Onion-2 large
Ginger-1 inch piece(chopped)
Garlic- 5 nos(chopped)
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Coriander powder-2 tsp
Redchilli powder-2 tsp
Garam masala-1 tsp
Salt- 2 tsp
Curry leaves- few


Method Of Preparation

  • Remove the outer skin of the tender jackfruit and wash it well
  • Cut the jackfruit flesh into cubes
  • Pressure cook the jackfruit pieces and potato with turmeric powder and little water for 1-2 whistles
  • Mash the cooked potato and shred the cooked jack fruit pieces using the pulse of a mixer
  • Heat oil in a pan then add ginger and garlic pieces into it then add onion into it. Sauté it well until the onion becomes transparent
  • Then add turmeric powder, coriander powder and redchilli powder into it and sauté it well until the raw smell of the powders goes 
  • Then add mashed potato into it and sauté it for few minutes
  • Then add the shredded jackfruit pieces, salt, garam masala and few curry leaves into it. Mix everything well and sauté it for few minutes
  • Take 2 eggs in a bowl and beat it well
  • Take a portion of the jackfruit mixture in your hand and shape it into round cutlets
  • Dip it in egg and then roll it in bread crumbs
  • Repeat this process with remaining mixture
  • Deep fry it in hot oil until both sides turns golden brown in color
  • Tender jackfruit cutlet/ idichakka cutlet is now ready to serve
