Chocolate Chicken Mole Recipe | Mexican Chocolate Chicken Mole In Indian Style | Variety Recipe With Chicken & Chocolate with Video Recipe. My last Post on this blog was a chocolate recipe that is a brownie recipe. Here comes another recipe with chocolate that is chocolate chicken mole. I am sure that it will be a variety recipe for most of you as it is a combination of chocolate and chicken. Do you ever think about a curry recipe with chocolate and chicken?. Answer will be No, isn’t it?, Yes we can make a curry with chicken and chocolate, that is chocolate chicken mole. It is a Mexican recipe. I tried to make it into an Indian style, If you are looking for a variety chicken curry recipe and a variety recipe with chocolate then you can definitely try this recipe. This curry will taste delicious. In this recipe we will cook the panfried chicken in the chocolate mole sauce. Chocolate mole sauce is a blend of redchilli paste, spices, nuts, onion, tomato and melted dark chocolate. This curry has a spicy, sweet and sour taste. Ingredients


For Making Chicken Stock

Water-1/2 litre
Chicken Bones-1/4 kg
Onion-1 small (chopped)
Carrot-1 small piece (chopped)
Ginger-1 small piece ( chopped)
Garlic-3 to 4 cloves
Cinnamon stick- 1 small piece
Cloves-2
Black pepper corns-1 tsp

For Chicken Marination

Chicken-1/2 kg
Turmeric Powder-1 tsp
Chilli Powder-2 tbs
Salt-1 tsp

For Making  Redchilli Paste

Water-1 cup
Vinegar-1 tsp
Stemless redchillies-8 to 10

For Making Masala Paste

Cinnamon stick-1 piece
Cloves-3
Cumin Seeds-1 tsp
Coriander Seeds-1 tsp
Black Pepper Corns-1/2 tsp
Fennel Seeds-1 tsp
Almonds-4
Raisins-4
Cloves-4
Onion-2 ( Chopped)
Tomatoes-4 ( Chopped)
Salt-1 tsp
Chicken Stock-1 1/2 cup

For Melting Chocolate

Dark Chocolate- 1/2 cup ( chopped)

For Chocolate Chicken Mole

Olive Oil-2 tbs
Redchilli Paste-2 tbs
Grounded Masala Paste
Water-1 cup
Melted chocolate
Salt to taste
Fried chicken pieces

Method Of Preparation

Making Chicken Stock

  • Pour 1/2 litre water to a kadai. Add chicken bones, onion, carrot, ginger, garlic, cinnamon stick, cloves and black pepper corns into it.
  • Close it with a lid and cook it in low-medium flame for at least 30 minutes
  • Filter it into another bowl
  • Chicken Stock is ready now. Keep it aside

Chicken Marination & Pan frying

  • Marinate the chicken pieces with turmeric powder, redchilli powder and salt for 30 minutes
  • Heat oil in a pan and fry the chicken pieces until it turns light brown in color from both sides & becomes tender
  • Keep it aside

Making Redchilli Paste

  • Take water in a pan. Add vinegar into it. Add redchillies into it.
  • Boil it for 15 minutes in medium flame
  • Allow it to cool down completely.
  • Grind it to a fine paste by adding little water into it
  • Keep it aside

Making Masala Paste

  • In a pan add cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black pepper corns, fennel seeds, almonds, raisins. Saute it for 1 minute. Then add cloves, onion and tomato. Add 1tsp salt into it and mix well
  • Saute it until onion becomes translucent
  • Add 1 1/2 cup chicken stock into it. Mix it well & cook it until tomatoes are soft
  • Once it’s cooled down completely, grind it to a fine paste and keep it aside

Melting Chocolate

  • In a bowl take 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate.
  • Take some water in a pan & place the bowl inside the pan
  • Heat it in low flame until chocolate melts completely. (Stir it continuously). Keep it aside

Making Chocolate Chicken Mole 

  • Heat olive oil in a kadai. Add redchilli paste into it. Add the grounded masala paste into it. Mix it well
  • Add 1 cup water into it
  • Mix it well & cook it until the gravy thickens
  • Add melted chocolate into it and mix well
  • Add salt to taste and mix well
  • Chocolate mole sauce is ready now
  • Add the fried chicken pieces into it & let it boil for a minute
  • Chocolate chicken mole is now ready to serve hot with brown rice
