Ridgegourd stir fry(Peerikangai fry/Peechinga fry)

Ridge gourd(Sponge Gourd) is called as Beerakai in Telugu,Peerikangai in Tamil and Torai in Hindi. I used to prepare this stir fry of ridge gourd as side dish for our meal.This recipe is very easy to prepare .Let us see how to prepare this

Ingredients

Ridge gourd-1/4kg
Onion-1 finely chopped
Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
Redchilli powder-1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil

Method of Preparation
  • Peel and cut ridge gourd into small pieces
  • Heat oil in a pan and add onions.Add salt in it and saute well until onion turns brown in colour
  • Add turmeric powder,Redchili powder in it and saute well
  • Add ridge gourd in it
  • Close the lid and cook for 10-15 minutes.cook until the water in the ridge gourd evaporates
  • Ridge gourd stir fry is ready to serve hot with rice
