Vishu Kata
Here I am sharing the recipe of Vishu Katta. In Kerala on the day of vishu after seeing the vishu kani people used to have vishu katta as breakfast. Vishu Katta is a rice cake made with coconut milk and served along with Jaggery syrup.Let us see how to prepare this


Preparation Time:10 minutes
Cooking Time:20 minutes
Servings:4 People

Ingredients

Raw rice-1 cup
Coconut milk-2 cup
Grated Coconut-1/2 cup
Cumin seeds-1 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste

For the Jaggery Syrup

Jaggery-1/2 cup
Water-1 cup
Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp

Method Of Preparation
  • Soak the rice for 1 hour.
  • Wash the rice and set it aside
  • Cook the rice in the coconut milk with salt.Once the rice is cooked well add the grated coconut and cumin seeds in it.(It should be thick)
  • Spread it in a plate and allow it to cool.Then cut with a knife and get the desired shape
  • Mix half cup of jaggery with 1 cup of water and bring it to a boil.Keep until the mixture becomes thin syrup
  • Add cumin seeds in it and serve it on top of vishu katta
